Change Default Language in Browser

If you have set your Translate element to "Hidden", then you probably won't see it when you visit your page. That is because it only appears when the default language of the visitor is different from the language you've specified for your site. In order to see what foreign language visitors would see, you can change the language settings in your browser.
  • In Firefox:
    1. Click on Tools, then Options.
    2. Select the Content tab and then click Choose under Languages.
    3. Pick a language other than your website's language from the dropdown box and click Add.
    4. That language should now be in the list at the top. Click on it to highlight it and then click the Move Up button repeatedly until the new language you added is at the top of the list.
    5. Click OK, then click OK again.
    6. To restore your settings, follow steps 1 and 2, then highlight the language that you just added and click Delete. Click OK, then click OK again.
  • In Internet Explorer:
    1. Click on the Tools menu, then click Internet Options, and then on the General tab click Languages.
    2. Click Add in Language Preference and select a language other than your website's language.
    3. Select the new language, and then click Move Up until it's at the top of the list.
    4. Click OK, then click OK again, and then refresh the browser window.
    5. To restore your settings, follow step 1, then highlight the language that you just added and click Delete. Click OK, then click OK again.
Now visit your page and you'll see how it looks to visitors with the language settings you've just made. When you're done testing, the last step above will tell you how to restore your normal settings.
